Sorry this ended up taking a bit to get it up but its still Tuesday so I don’t fail completely! I had a good vaca, but I think I caught something coming back (GO FIGURE) so its kinda why the strip ended up taking me a stupid amount of time.

i love lee D: i also love the contrast you make between the dead world and memories and the real world, it’s really effective, esp. in this page as you’ve got 90% of it as b&w memories and then that flash of colour in the “death” (limbo?) world where everything’s happening.

It’s a little off topic, but it’s totally consistent for the entire series thus far. I love LOVE LOOOOOOVVVE the fact that each character has a visual contemporary whenever in a frame.
For example, Ellipsis and Hanna. They are as different as can be, yet fit harmoniously all the same. And I mean artistically.
Here. I’ll show ya what I mean:
Hanna Ellipsis
Red hair (bright!) Black/white hair (monochromatic)
Grey clothes (monochromatic) Bright orange shoes/shirt (bright!)
Blue eyes (subtle) Yellow eyes (prominent feature)
Crazy(!) loud personality Subdued, almost a lack of personality
And, of course, the whole dead/living thing. But maaaannnn, do I LOVE this!

I’d like to say that I am completely loving how the tick-tocks in the background are both oppressive and subtle. Also, that last panel pretty much wins forever. The turquoise and orange, the light and dark, the sound effect… The fact that the rope of Lee’s noose has detached from the floor is particularly striking to me, for some reason.

Does Ples own that bar? I know he’s sitting in a barstool and drinking, but it looks as though there’s absolutely no one else in the room besides him and Lee, even a bartender. Maybe he’s drinking with a customer because business is slow. Something about the old-fashioned signs on the door, especially the one that says, “KING ALWAYS,” makes me wonder if business is always slow…
BECAUSE PLES RUNS A TIME-TRAVELING BAR. Like the Tardis, except with booze. Or like those folktales where Rip van Winkle or random peasants go drinking with the fairies and then wake up and it’s 100 years later. I don’t have much evidence for this guess, but I think it would be awesome.

I know, right? Tessa’s great about updating often, but since we never know exactly when the next update’s gonna happen, I check back for pages constantly. It’s literally like having a gambling addiction :-/ Of course, the fact that we’re in the middle of the climatic action for this chapter really makes it worse. Eeeee, wanna know what happens!
I think she might even be sad with all those comments that’s are shouting about next page, just like she would be not quick enough…

It’s totally not like a gambling addiction, because when you gamble your chances of winning something big are abysmal–you might get like 50$ sometimes but that’s it, and you lose it in the next round anyway. When playing the F5 game with Hanna, however, EVERY win is a big win. And you win pretty much ALL THE TIME.
eh, I was exaggerating. I was just thinking of studies done on animals (and unfortunately I don’t have the references for any of them :-/ ), where the animals press a lever for a treat (F5F5F5). If the treat was given at regular intervals (always at every five presses, or whatever), the animals only pressed the lever when they were hungry. But if the the treat was given at irregular intervals (at 5 presses, then at 2 presses, then at 20 presses, etc), the animals became obsessed with the lever and would push it constantly. This supposedly reflected gambling addiction in humans – since the prize (winnig a hand) comes at unpredictable intervals, it’s the conviction that the very NEXT HAND could be THE HAND where your fortune turns around that traps people in the addiction.
ANYWAY, since that’s the above it tl;dr, I’ll agree with you – Hanna is MUCH better than a gambling or drug addiction, since there’s no real losses and the wins are always marvelous :D

Is it just me or is this the same bar as in the ‘important wallet photo’ of Imhotep? (It was ages of pages ago…) I cant check because my internet is sooooo slow, it would take for ever to get there and back.
