Another strip! Sorry for the long wait between this one and the last one! I had to shift a lot of the story around that was coming up because I had to make some BIG DECISIONS ™ about what worked best for the flow of the chapter and everything included. But I think it ended up being for the best, it just required a lot of HRM THINKING TIME ™ which of course always takes a while.
It’s unfortunate that you can’t have story related epiphanies on command.
Oh hey! SDCC is next week and I’m intimidated beyond belief. Why you ask? Because SDCC feels like it’s for the big boys, and I’m so overwhelmed! There’ll be so many great artists there I just won’t know what to do with myself! I actually am already trying to work up the nerve (have been for a week or so) to get the gumption to walk up to Doug TenNaple’s booth and ask him to sign Creature Tech and Iron West for me. His work is phenomenal and has been an inspiration for me for a while so it’d be absolutely FANFREAKINGTASTIC.
Chances are I’ll be too much of a coward.
Plus I’ll be sharing the 4DE booth with amazing artists like Tracy who does Lackadaisy Cats and DerShing who does The Meek. Both those comics just absolutely blow me away, it’s ridiculous. Hahaha.
Hrm. I have a few sketches and stuff to show you guys eventually when I get the time, but till then ROCK ONNNNN. You know I love you. <3
FINALLY book one is here!! I am happy to say it is now available where you do not have to race to get it, it is not in a horrendously limited supply, nor is it twenty dollars, AND it has a brand new cover! Jee golly Batman! Preordered books are a special deal and therefore will ALL come signed, and for a little bit extra [BUT ONLY THROUGH THE PREORDER PERIOD] they will be doodled in as well! Exciting!! So check it out!

Also as a note: These are now a standard comic size! It’s unfortunate that the horizontal long books, while artsy and cute, were not practical, and the tall skinny books will be how they’re printed from now on! <3 The beginning of book one has quite a bit of formatting adjustments, but from now on out the books will be where two strips are stacked on top of each other to form one page, as well as at the end of book one! I’m sorry if this is supremely inconvenient for anybody, but I did my best to make sure the book still looked good! Hope you will still enjoy!

Oh gosh, I’m a big fan of TenNaple’s work too. I found his twitter recently and was all excited but apparently we strongly disagree on some things which is totally cool except he does lots of straight up liberal-bashing. So I’ll stick to reading his comics and maybe shaking his hand some day if I ever make it to comic-con. But I hope you get the courage to meet him and have tons of awesome times in San Diego!

(Oh, and I have a question — when exactly are the preordered books expected to ship by? I’m leaving August 17th to move back into my college dorm, so I want to make sure that I’ll get it in time!)
Hanna’s expression in the final panel is just pure AMAZING.
As soon as I saw Hanna’s expression on the last-ish panel, my first thought was; “Rape Face.”
Epic win.
It’s not a smile that inspires trust, is it? Maybe it’s just because you can’t see his eyes? It makes me wonder if he’s fibbing a little, like “I’ve never actually seen one of these pendants up close before, but I could fix the hell out of it if I had the right stuff! Wow, she’s gonna kill me when she finds out I don’t have the right stuff.”
XD Yeah, really. Hanna’s probably completely certain he can fix it, though. I mean. I know I’d trust him with MY magical pendants and all. >_>
Another great job, Tessa! I really like how Hanna’s glasses are glowing in the last panel. Can’t wait to see where that cog leads them.

I’d heard of this comic before though lj but hadn’t checked it out for whatever reason. Shame since I finally did and had to just keep on reading all the way through since I just love it so much. Your art is amazing, the set up of the comic panels are neat and the colors are so vibrant it’s very pleasing to look at while reading. The story is cute, funny and really interesting. I read a lot of webcomics and off the web comics and this one is a gem. After reading through the archives not only am I hooked on this comic but you also really made me want to start drawing again which is pretty rare so I think I might just purchase chapter one. I mean, if I like something so much and it’s inspired me why not have a hard copy.
Also, I might have had a gleeful flail because you know what selkies are and used the lore to make your story even more awesome. Lore, mythology, monster history, all of that is just really fun for me to research.
